Why Attend a Dementia Support Group?

Joining a dementia caregiver support group can help you:

  • Reduce caregiver stress and burnout

  • Gain practical dementia caregiving strategies you can use every day

  • Connect with other families who understand the dementia journey

  • Learn how to manage challenging behaviors, memory loss, and communication changes

  • Preserve your own health and well-being while caring for your loved one

Many caregivers say that being in a room with others who “get it” makes them feel less isolated and more confident. Support groups are more than just meetings—they are a lifeline.

Why I Lead This Group

For me, this work is deeply personal. My name is Amy, which comes from the Latin amore—meaning love. I was raised by parents who taught me to be kind, generous, and loving, and those values guide me still.

Leading this caregiver support group fills my cup. I am inspired every month by the resilience, vulnerability, and honesty that caregivers bring into the room. I love being able to provide reassurance, normalization, and validation—helping caregivers see that what they are experiencing is both real and shared.

This group is not just about education; it is about connection, love, and walking this journey together.
