Caring for a loved one with dementia can feel overwhelming. The stress, confusion, and emotional burden of caregiving are real—and too many family caregivers in Wyoming try to carry it alone.
The Dementia Caregiver Support Group in Cheyenne meets monthly at the Laramie County Library, offering a safe, understanding space to share experiences, ask questions, and receive encouragement from others who truly understand what you are going through.
This group is designed for caregivers at any stage of the dementia journey—whether you are just beginning to notice changes or are navigating complex care decisions.
2026 Meeting Schedule
🗓 Fourth Friday of every month
⏰ 2:00–3:00 PM
📍 Willow Room (First Floor)
Laramie County Library – Cheyenne
No registration is required. You are welcome to attend whenever you are able.
What to Expect
These gatherings are an opportunity to:
Connect with others who understand the realities of dementia caregiving
Ask questions in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment
Share experiences—or simply listen
Feel less alone in a journey that can be isolating
There is no pressure to speak, no expectation to have the “right” questions, and no requirement to attend every month. Many caregivers find that simply being in a room with others who understand brings relief and perspective.
Facilitated by Amy Shaw, PA-C
The group is facilitated by Amy Shaw, PA-C, a nationally recognized dementia care specialist and the founder of Better Dementia™.
Amy has spent more than a decade helping families navigate the dementia journey and currently serves as Medical Director for memory care communities in Wyoming and Illinois. Her work focuses on helping caregivers understand the what, when, and why of dementia, so they can master the how of caregiving with greater confidence and compassion.
A Simple, Supportive Space
Many caregivers share that being part of a group like this helps them feel calmer, more grounded, and better equipped to face daily challenges. Over time, shared understanding and practical insight can make a meaningful difference.
The Dementia Caregiver Support Group is free and open to anyone caring for a loved one with dementia. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to bring—just come as you are.
